New Cell Balancing Technique Using SIMO Two-Switch Flyback Converter with Multi Cells

Recently, as the perception of eco-friendliness has changed, demand for energy storage devices been rapidly increasing due to growth electric vehicle industry and smart grid facilities, which are emerging an alternative next-generation electricity supply demand. Therefore, importance battery management technology is growing, various voltage balancing techniques between cells being studied in order maintain high efficiency continuous performance batteries. This paper proposes a topology using single input-multiple output (SIMO) two-switch flyback converter series configuration resolve imbalance The characteristic proposed that each cell on secondary side connected one high-frequency transformer share magnetic flux, performed according switch operation converter. At this time, accumulated excess refluxed power through freewheeling diode converted into reactive power. verification usefulness theoretical analysis was based dynamic characteristics steady state circuit PSIM experiments, conducted module composed four cells.
